The easy way out
On Sundays, on our way back home from Åre it is all too tempting to order sushi. As Kyoto is closed on Sundays we've had to find someplace else. And as it happens, Bryggen Asian Cooking has the best online ordering system! Last weekend was all about sashimi, this Sunday we tested out a variety of their makis. Scallops is still a favorite!

Zumba- what a success recipe
We started the new semester at Åsveien on Monday; zumba and pilates were the scheduled classes. What a blast, the studio was packed, and the participants cheered and clapped midways through the class. There's this magic ingredient in the zumba concept that makes everyone love it, our 18 year olds as well as our 60 year olds. Quite amazing really. I know our Monday night instructor had a kick tonight, and is already looking forward to next Monday!
At Gløshaugen we're introducing zumba in Armfeldtsalen, with enough space to host 150 participants. I'm sure it'll be a hit. For some peculiar reason, zumba always is!

Even better skiing on Sunday!
When we woke up on Sunday it was snowing, and by the time we hit the slopes it was blue skies and sunny. What a ball! Can't wait to go skiing again. But first I have another five days of work in the hospital before I can happily say: hello weekend!!

Telemark skiing in Åre, Sweden
Yeah!!!! First day of skiing in 2011. And it felt great! Of course I felt the burn in my thighs, and I was out of breath about one third down the slope... But it's a good thing I'm teaching functional training this semester, I promise to include a lot of exercises that target those skiing muscles ;). Now we're getting ready for sauna and champagne, and I'm looking forward to a new day in the snow tomorrow!
Powder snow in the 'valley', not easy to stay put on your feet...! Or like Calle likes to phrase it: Master of disaster!

Christmas traditions
We spent the holidays with my mother and father in law. They live in the southwestern part of Norway, which normally has a milder climate than the middle part where we live. However, these past couple of years have been quite out of the ordinary, and they've had plenty of snow. I spent my first Christmas eve in Sandnes years ago, and one of the things I had to do to be accepted into the family was to go swimming at noon on Christmas eve. Well, swim is an exaggeration. More like "get in and out as fast as you can"! This year I figured I'd been part of the family long enough to claim my spot on the sideline. Nevertheless, Rune has done this for the past 20 years, and the ice doesn't stop him. Just so you know, the rules say that you have to have your head under water, and you have to go in twice!
