Medhufushi Paradise & Internship Luck

We arrived back from the Maldives one week ago. What a vacation! We had a ball. It is so picturesque that none of our photos look real! We flew from Trondheim to London, spent a hot day in Brighton enjoying the beach, before spending one night at Hilton Gatwick Hotel. The following day we flew out with Emirates, heading for Dubai-Male. The airport in Dubai must have been the most shiny airport we've ever seen. It makes you wonder what it looks like in the city. But that'll have to be another time! After two hours in transit we flew to Male, the capital of the Maldives. From there we caught a seaplane that took us directly to Medhufushi Island Resort. The resort comprises the entire island. On the one end is the staff area, in the middle the restaurant, bar, swimming pool, reception etc, and on the other end the water villas that stretch out into the ocean. We stayed in one of the water villas and could step right into the water. Around the villas we spotted a large turtle, an octopus, manta rays and lots of fish in different patterns and colors. We enjoyed the sunset from our villa or from the Vilu Bar. We spent our days out on a snorkeling trip, sunset fishing boat trip and island hopping. On the island we hung out around the pool, Rune went kitesurfing (while I was in the Vilu Bar having an afternoon iced coffe), we both went water skiing, we used the gym a few times, and I went to the spa situated in the lagoon, with a sideboard walk to get out to it. No complaints, just a perfect vacation for two :).

Just before we left for the Maldives, there was graduation! Finally, after six years of medical school, we are finally finished! In the picture you can see some of us girls in our national costumes (except for Maryam, who on this occation is the flower girl!). There was a ceremony at Gløshaugen, and afterwards we had a small champagne reception with my closest friends and their families. In the evening we had tapas (from the same catering company we used for the wedding), and my uncle and his family joined us. A day to remember!

And now to the exciting internship part... As you know I drew the number 500, and was with about 380 spots left with little hope. However, 500 turned out to be quite the lucky number. I got St.Olavs Hospital, Trondheim! This is the same university hospital where I have gotten my degree! This means we'll stay in Trondheim for a bit longer before we eventually head towards Stavanger.

The holidays are over, and I am back in the orthopaedic department. Rune is also back in the office. Everything is on track :).
